As of this morning, I had one follower. Which is fine. I haven’t announced this blog on any social media or alerted my friends and family so I don’t expect a following at this point. Announcing my goals and intentions out here in the interweb somehow makes it more real. Makes me more accountable. Step one completed.
Step two. Dietbet.com. I read post a few days ago by a local blogger (littlegirlinthebigworld) that detailed the FitFluential game on Dietbet’s site and I was intrigued. I could GAMBLE that I could lose 4% of my body weight and at the same time that most of those in my game wouldn’t, thus making a profit off my weight loss. Obviously I could not resist the additional accountability AND opportunity to win some money (which I would immediately spend on tri gear). My game officially starts tomorrow so I had my online-digital-photograph weigh-in today. Step two completed.
Yesterday, I ran a 5k on my beach trail and then did a 14 mile bike ride with my husband. It was date day for us so we had a few beers and some pupus half-way thru that ride, but hey, a ride is a ride, right? (Sunday was supposed to be a 3 mile run only according to my Intermediate Sprint Triathlon training plan. I’ve read about 16 triathlon training books and found the most helpful and comprehensive to be Tom’s Holland’s resource and practical tip-rich book The 12 Week Triathlete: Train for a Triathlon in Just 3 months. You should probably ignore that I am starting this plan on week 10, not week 12. Giddy-up!)
Today, in accordance with THE PLAN, I swam half a mile and did another quarter of a mile on the kickboard in addition to a (pretty weak) showing at the weights and ab section of my gym. But I showed up and did what I was supposed to do.
Bring on day two.
